Aloft takes off

November 1, 2005—Halifax, Nova Scotia

Passengers aboard CanJet Airlines flights this November and December will discover an exciting travel resource right at their fingertips.

They’ll be reaching for the inaugural issue of aLOFT, CanJet’s entertaining and informative new in-flight magazine—and the chance to win an extraordinary all-expenses-paid culinary adventure!

Produced by Metro Guide Publishing, aLOFT offers its readers travel features, tips, news and reliable recommendations on shopping, dining, events and attractions for each of the airline’s 15 destinations in Canada and the United States.

“This is a proud day for both CanJet and Metro Guide Publishing,” says Julie Gossen, CanJet’s executive vice-president and COO. “aLOFT is more than interesting and entertaining in-flight reading for our guests—it is another important step in the progression of CanJet Airlines and a barometer of the success our customers and employees have helped us achieve since our launch on June 20, 2002.”

Both proudly based in Halifax, CanJet and Metro Guide Publishing want to share their city’s world-class dining, shopping, attractions and events with aLOFT readers. To celebrate the magazine’s launch, they have partnered with Destination Halifax to offer passengers the chance to win an incredible winter getaway and the opportunity to savour the flavours of Nova Scotia— which are deliciously profiled in the magazine’s cover story—during Halifax’s exciting Entertainment Season.

Metro Guide Publishing has extensive experience with traveller and visitor publications: it produces widely respected titles including Where Halifax and The Greater Halifax Visitor Guide, and manages advertising sales for Nova Scotia’s Doers’ & Dreamers’ Guide. “We’ve been producing tourism publications for the Atlantic Canadian market for decades,” says Sheila Blair-Reid, publisher. “We are delighted by the opportunity to work with CanJet on aLOFT and to serve readers in Canada and the United States.” Metro Guide publishes more than 15 different titles in seven industry sectors, and is part of the national Where Canada network of visitor magazines.

CanJet Airlines is a division of IMP Group Limited, which was selected in early 2005 as one of Canada’s Top 50 Best Managed Companies for the second year running, and is one of Canada’s largest aviation and aerospace companies. The airline division provides low-fare, scheduled service to 15 markets in Canada and the United States.
