Halifax International Lands Four Global Airport Awards

Halifax International Airport landed three top-place finishes in the 2004 AETRA airport customer satisfaction survey, and third in best improvement of overall satisfaction. The survey is conducted annually by the International Air Transport Association and co-sponsored by Airports Council International.

Halifax International Airport ranked first in overall passenger satisfaction for airports worldwide with under five million passengers, for the second year in a row. In addition, Halifax was rated as best airport in the Americas of any size for overall satisfaction, and best domestic airport worldwide. The survey includes such world-renowned airports as London Heathrow, Sydney (Australia), Amsterdam Schiphol, Beijing, Denver, and Vancouver.

“This remarkable achievement is a culmination of hard work, tremendous effort and exceptional service commitment by our own employees, volunteer hosts, and the front-line staff from our many partner organizations,” says Peter Clarke, Acting President & COO, Halifax International Airport Authority.

Halifax has participated in this survey since 2002. It measures 23 separate elements of passenger airport experience and how well each element satisfies passenger expectations. Surveys occur over a three to four-day period each month. The results enable Halifax International Airport to benchmark against the opinions of other international or domestic passengers traveling through a variety of airports around the world, as well as track changes in passenger satisfaction at Halifax.

The awards will be presented in June at the Quality of Service at Airports Conference in Kuala Lumpur.

Halifax International Airport is Atlantic Canada’s principal full-service airport providing passengers and cargo clients with access to markets across the country and strategic locations in the United States and Europe. The Airport welcomes more three million passengers each year, making it Canada’s seventh busiest airport.
